As a member of Sioux City Growth Organization, we hope you will take advantage of our many opportunities within the group. We have several committees within our group that meet throughout the month; you are encouraged to get involved in any or all of them: Civic Committee, Connect Committee, Special Events Committee, and Marketing Commitee. New committee members are always welcome and it is a great way to meet fellow members!
In addition to committee opportunities, SCGO also provides its members with opportunities to get involved in our community through volunteer groups, educational events, networking activities, and community and government board positions open to SCGO members. To better connect our members to the community, SCGO sponsors after work events known as YTRAPs (Young Talented Representatives And Professionals) at various businesses around Siouxland with community leaders as guest speakers.

Civic Committee
This committee organizes meetings and events for SCGO members to stay informed and connected to local leaders regarding issues of government, economic, and community.
Two ways Civic Committee encourages involvement is by listing openings on the boards of local organizations and by sharing upcoming agendas for the local government Council meetings:

Connect Committee
This committee is responsible for planning both fun and learning events for SCGO as a way of connecting young professionals to influential leaders of our community. Every month we host the YTRAP (Young and Talented Representatives and Professionals) get-together at various locations around Sioux City, where we have an educational speaker and networking available. We also plan “connect” activities quarterly to bring young professionals together to develop long-lasting friendships.

Marketing/PR Committee
This committee handles the promotion of SCGO such as the website and producing the annual report. They are also responsible for fundraising activities like the design and sell of Sioux City slogan t-shirts. This committee also organizes the annual Corporate Tour where members have a chance to meet with Siouxland business leaders and share what our organization is accomplishing. Members may also brainstorm and implement other public relation tools needed by SCGO.

Special Events Committee
This committee is responsible for planning and executing Special Events for SCGO. Events include the SCGO 10 Year Anniversary Celebration, YP Day, SCGO Ripple Award, Highway Clean-Up, 3rd Annual Cardboard Cup and additional volunteer opportunities as they arise.

YPIowa
SCGO also offers its members insight into becoming involved with YPIowa. With our relationship to YPIowa it enables SCGO members to network with young professionals from across the state and attend events that are beneficial for young professionals on a personal level as well as their community.

Innovation Market Committee:
This committee is responsible for planning the annual event, Innovation Market, which is an event meant to cultivate positive action in the community by connecting people as well as introducing like-minded leaders who are excited about growth and change for the community. It’s also meant to hopefully fill empty spaces in the downtown landscape of our town as well as watching ideas, however big or small take shape and move into action and setting the wheels into motion. This committee has subcommittees and needs volunteers that are willing to help with such items as: marketing, college connection, logistics, event set-up, business leader development and more!
